Spinlock, the award-winning designers and manufacturers of rope-holding equipment and personal safety products for water users, are delighted to be supporting the first Hamble Classics Regatta over the weekend of the 24th and 25th September.

The event has been designed as a late season extravaganza of classic yachting and will feature a busy schedule of racing and social events. Saturday is Spinlock Race Day and will see metre classes, classic racers and cruisers, Spirit of Tradition yachts plus old gaffers and day boats taking part. The Cowes based company have also donated a generous selection of prizes for those taking part in the Spinlock Race Day.

Spinlock Race Day will see ten racing classes with the aggregate winner of each receiving a Spinlock prize. On Sunday at the main prize giving Spinlock will present a Deckvest LITE Lifejacket to the winners of the following:

  • Best performance by a pre-1971 wooden yacht - assessed by overall result, fleet size and competitiveness.

  • Best performance of the whole regatta fleet - assessed by overall result, fleet size and competitiveness.

  • Seamanship Award - Awarded for distance of delivery, complexity of boat etc.

The Royal Southern Yacht Club is organising and hosting the event that will welcome all styles of classic yachts, with racing formats to suit each type. Royal Southern Yacht Club member and classic boat owner Jonty Sherwill explains: "With so many beautiful classics residing in the river it's high time that Hamble hosted its own classics regatta and I'm delighted that the Royal Southern has embraced the idea."

Spinlock CEO Chris Hill is a keen sailor himself and said: "This event promises to bring together some of the most beautiful yachts around and is a fantastic end to the season. The team at Spinlock are excited to be a part of this new event that reinforces our commitment to supporting sailing across all facets of the sport. Some of us are hoping to be out on the water over the weekend too."
